Celebrating Culture, Connection and Community

27 Jun 2025

During International Week at Knockhall Primary School, held from 23rd to 27th June, children and staff came together to celebrate the incredible diversity of cultures within our school community. The week was filled with colour, creativity, and a shared sense of pride, as children dressed in clothing representing their own cultural backgrounds. From vibrant traditional garments to meaningful accessories, each outfit told a unique story, reflecting both identity and heritage.

One of the highlights of the week was the international menu provided by our school’s caterers, The Pantry, giving pupils the opportunity to taste foods from around the world. The children enjoyed dishes they may not have tried before – a delicious way to explore new cultures and show respect for different traditions through food.

As part of the week, children also took part in the “Shoe Box Challenge”, where they created an ‘All About Me’ box to showcase their culture, background, and identity. These beautifully decorated boxes were filled with meaningful items, drawings, and symbols that reflected who they are and the children proudly presented them to their classmates.

The week was a joyful celebration of who we are and and how we connect with others around the world. It was wonderful to see our school values in action with the children showing pride in their identities, demonstrating respect for one another’s cultures, and engage in activities that encouraged honesty and teamwork across the school.
